CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference has reached an agreement with WhistleStop to implement its basketball timing solution across the conference’s 18 member schools. The implementation for men’s and women’s basketball begins with the 2024-25 season. The ACC used WhistleStop’s products with baseball in 2024 and will begin using WhistleStop in softball for the 2025 season.

“The integration of WhistleStop for our men’s and women’s basketball programs is another example of the ACC’s commitment to embracing technology that benefits our entire league,” said ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Ph.D. “We appreciate our ongoing partnership with WhistleStop and the innovation they deliver to ensure we are best serving our student-athletes, coaches, officials and fans.”

The Raleigh, North Carolina-based WhistleStop (WS Hardwood) manufactures the world’s most advanced and accurate basketball clock management solution. WS Hardwood consists of small waist packs that sync to each other and interface with in-venue clock/scoreboard systems. The system automatically stops the clock on the referee’s whistle within 1/100th of a second and alerts game officials to the clock starting and stopping with vibration alerts. The drastic reduction of potential timing-related errors and unnecessary game stoppages enhances the game experience for student-athletes, fans and broadcast partners alike.

“The ACC has a storied history, especially in the sport of basketball, and it’s no surprise that they continue to pursue the best technology to supplement their student-athletes,” said Keith Fogleman, President of WhistleStop. “We are honored to be chosen to provide a world-class solution to such a world-class conference.”
